McShane to Build Avenida Hendersonville
McShane Construction Company is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by Avenida Partners to provide construction services for Avenida Hendersonville, a new active senior living community in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Last spring, McShane completed the construction of Avenida Naperville, a 146-unit active senior living community in Naperville, Illinois.
“We’re very excited to work with Avenida Partners again on their new community in Hendersonville,” shared Mathew Dougherty, President of McShane Construction Company. “Avenida’s communities offer a unique mix of amenities that promote an active lifestyle, and are a great alternative to traditional senior living.”
Positioned on a five-acre site, the three-story wood frame building will incorporate 138 units with a brick and Hardie panel exterior. Each unit will incorporate high-end features, including granite countertops, luxury vinyl tile and carpet flooring, tile backsplashes and undermount sinks. Floor plans will be offered in one- and two-bedroom configurations with one or two bathrooms.
The development will also offer 6,000 square feet of amenity space, including a clubhouse with a theater, dining room and fitness center, as well as a pool, grill station, gardens and dog park.
Located within the Indian Lake Village community in Hendersonville, tenants will have easy access to a number of restaurant, entertainment and retail amenities.
Completion of Avenida Hendersonville is slated for May 2022. This will be the firm’s third active adult living community in Tennessee, adding to their communities in Cool Springs and Germantown. The architect of record is Poole & Poole Architecture.
Jeff Raday to Retire as President of McShane Construction
After serving as President of McShane Construction Company for 22 years, Jeff Raday will retire at the end of the year. Upon Raday’s retirement from the firm, Mat Dougherty, Executive Vice President at McShane, will transition into the President’s role.
“We have been planning this transition for quite some time,” shared Raday. “I’m very excited to see what the future holds for McShane Construction under Mat’s leadership.”
Raday joined the firm in October 1996 as Vice President and was promoted to President in March 1998. As President, he has guided the firm’s growth into one of the nation’s leading construction organizations. Under his leadership, the firm broadened its project portfolio and diversified geographically, expanding into new markets across the country. Jeff led the establishment of the firm’s four regional offices in Phoenix, Arizona; Irvine, California; Auburn, Alabama and Madison, Wisconsin, and has grown the business’ annual revenue from $60 million to $600 million.
During Raday’s tenure as President, McShane has been a seven-time winner of NAIOP Chicago’s Contractor of the Year Award, the 2012 recipient of the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association Chicago (HACIA) Contractor of the Year Award, the 2011 recipient of the African-American Contractors Association Chicago (AACA) Contractor of the Year Award, National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 2019 Multi-Family Builder of the Year and one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ Best Places to Work in Chicago in 2019 and 2020.
“Jeff has served as a mentor to me throughout my entire career, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of the example he has set as a leader,” Dougherty commented. “I know I have big shoes to fill, but I’m looking forward to serving McShane in this new capacity.”
Dougherty joined McShane in June 2000 as a Project Engineer, following his graduation from Marquette University. Over the past 20 years, he has proven himself a strategic visionary and has demonstrated the utmost dedication to furthering the company’s mission.

McShane Underway with The Manor Scottsdale
McShane Construction Company is underway with construction on The Manor Scottsdale. The Related Group selected the firm to provide construction services for the new 286-unit multi-family development in Scottsdale, Arizona. The project is one of six multi-family projects currently underway by McShane in the greater Phoenix area.
“Multi-family is booming in Phoenix right now, and we’re proud to be fulfilling the area’s need for new housing,” commented Jim Kurtzman, Senior Vice President at McShane. “The Manor Scottsdale is going to offer beautiful units with unique resort-style amenities, which will make it a great addition to Scottsdale.”
Positioned on 6.5 acres of land, the community will feature three-, four- and five-story wood frame buildings with units in studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations. Thirty-two units will be upgraded penthouse apartments and 19 units will have mountain views. There will also be 24 Kosher apartments.
Tenants will have access to many amenities including a poker/card room, arcade, fitness center, spinning/yoga room, golf simulator, salt sauna, wellness room, grotto room and lounge. Exterior amenities will include a pool and spa, barbecue areas, a tot lot and open air courtyards.
The architect of record is Humphreys & Partners Architects. Completion is slated for December 2022.
McShane Completes Option Care Health’s New Itasca Facility
McShane Construction Company just completed a new build-to-suit facility for Option Care Health, Inc. on behalf of developers, Quadrangle Development Company and Janko Group. Located in Itasca, Illinois, the 50,000-square-foot, single-story building houses both office space and licensed compounding pharmacy, ambulatory infusion suites and support spaces for Option Care Health, the nation’s largest independent provider of home and alternate site infusion services.
“Option Care Health has an innovative business model, and they now have an innovative facility to match,” commented Jeffrey A. Raday, President of McShane. “Their state-of-the-art building provides them with a technologically advanced pharmaceutical preparation area, patient-centered infusion suites, clinical collaboration spaces and efficient supply chain management infrastructure.”
McShane performed the construction of the building shell as well as the interior buildout for the tenant. The facility is situated on a 6.10-acre lot and features brick masonry with stone window and parapet wall accents.
The facility features open offices, private/shared offices, conference rooms and collaboration space for Option Care Health employees. There is also a treatment area, a showroom/presentation space and a pharmacy lab area.
The building’s warehouse areas feature two walk-in coolers and freezers with two truck docks and two drive-in doors.
The architect of record is Wright Heerema Architects. The architect for the interior build-out is Whitney Architects. JLL is the broker representing the tenant.
McShane Begins Construction on The Trotta Apartments
McShane Construction Company was selected by Impact Seven to provide design-assist construction services for The Trotta Apartments. Located in Middleton, Wisconsin, the new development will feature 126 apartment units. Situated on a site that previously housed a motel owned by the Trotta family for many years, the project’s name pays tribute to the Trotta family’s history on this property.
“We’re thrilled to begin construction on The Trotta Apartments,” shared Alison Gorham, Director of McShane’s Wisconsin Market. “With numerous first-class amenities, like expansive rooftop decks, The Trotta Apartments are going to be highly desirable for those seeking housing in the Middleton area.”
Positioned on nearly three acres, the development features four stories of wood frame construction atop an underground parking garage with a hydronic heated ramp. The exterior of the building will incorporate a mix of masonry and Hardie board siding.
Building amenities include a club room, fitness room, dog wash, a fourth-floor common room and three rooftop decks. Additionally, tenants have access to surface parking and electric vehicle charging stations.
Each unit features luxury vinyl plank flooring, white cabinets, granite countertops, a tiled backsplash and stainless steel appliances. Designed with sustainability in mind, units will also have 95% efficient furnaces with 14 SEER split system air conditioners.
By providing design-assist services, McShane was able to work with the architect and client as the design process progressed, which enabled the team to keep the project design and budget in line with the client’s proforma goals.
Completion of The Trotta Apartments is slated for April 2022. The architect of record is Ramaker & Associates.
2020 ABC Illinois Excellence in Construction Award – Industrial
Bystronic Experience Center received an Excellence in Construction Award in the industrial category from ABC Illinois. The award recognizes projects for their achievements in leadership, safety, innovation and diversity.
The building offers 165,000 square feet of space to support its North American headquarters office, showroom, manufacturing space and warehouse operations. A striking floating glass showroom is the focal point of the building and speaks to the innovation within. The two-story office offers 30,000 square feet of open and private offices, as well as a café designed to encourage collaboration and meetings among colleagues. The 102,800-square-foot warehouse and manufacturing area features a 32′ clear height and incorporates two 30-ton equipment cranes and four 20-ton equipment cranes. Additionally, the facility offers five truck docks and four drive-in doors.
2020 ABC Illinois Excellence in Construction Award – Residential
Avenida Naperville received an Excellence in Construction Award in the residential category from ABC Illinois. The award recognizes projects for their achievements in leadership, safety, innovation and diversity.
Avenida Naperville is an active senior living community with 146 apartment units. Designed to support active lifestyles, it incorporates 13,000 square feet of amenity space including a clubhouse with a bistro, fitness and yoga studios, a theater, library, private dining room and creative arts studio. Outside, residents can enjoy spacious courtyards that feature a swimming pool and spa, barbecue and dining areas, a game lawn and a yoga lawn.
McShane to Build Apartment Complex in Buford, Georgia
McShane Construction Company is pleased to announce that they have been selected by TPA Residential to provide general construction services for Woodward Crossing, a new Class A, 265-unit apartment development in Buford, Georgia, a quickly growing suburb of Atlanta.

Positioned on nearly eight acres, the community will incorporate two four- and five-story wood frame apartment buildings with an exterior of siding and brick. The amenity-rich development will also feature a workout room, outdoor pool, grilling area, gazebo and lounge. Residents will also have access to a precast parking deck.
Each unit will boast granite countertops throughout, tile backsplashes and private balconies.
The development is located within close proximity to the Mall of Georgia, I-85, and HWY 20. It conveniently includes direct access to the Ivy Creek walking trail and walkable retail.
McShane was engaged by the client during the pre-construction phase to provide value engineering services. This allows McShane to provide alternate recommendations for design elements, ensuring that the project is completed within the owner’s budget.

McShane Completes The West Living Near Milwaukee
McShane Construction Company is pleased to announce The West Living’s completion, a new luxury apartment community located in vibrant West Allis, Wisconsin. McShane constructed the development on behalf of their client, Mandel Group.

McShane-UJAMAA JV Completes 4400 Grove
The joint venture team of McShane Construction Company and UJAMAA Construction is pleased to announce the completion of 4400 Grove, a highly anticipated mixed-use development from Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization.
“There is a shortage of affordable housing across the country, and Chicago is no exception,” stated Jeffrey Raday, President of McShane Construction Company. “4400 Grove combines affordable housing with market-rate units and retail space, making it a great addition to Bronzeville and the city of Chicago.”
The four-story development combines retail and residential in the heart of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Commercial space is located on the ground floor, while floors two through four incorporate a total of 84 rental units. Twenty-one of the units are reserved for Chicago Housing Authority residents, 38 are affordable at 60 percent of Area Median Income (AMI) and the remaining 25 units are offered at market rate.
Resident amenities include a lounge, bike room, fitness/yoga room, conference rooms and a mailroom. There is also on-site parking, including dedicated retail spaces.
