McShane Construction Company is pleased to announce the completion of Kelly Station, a 76-unit affordable housing community for client Volker Development.
Located at 2462 E. Washington Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin, Kelly Station is a five-story podium-style building with four floors of apartment residences atop an above-grade precast parking garage. The exterior design features masonry at the ground level, complemented by a combination of Hardie plank and lap siding across the upper four stories.
“Completing our first project with Volker Development is an exciting milestone for our team,” remarked Alison Gorham, Vice President & Director of Wisconsin Operations at McShane. “Kelly Station reflects a shared commitment to delivering quality affordable housing that prioritizes both residents and the surrounding community.”
Volker is a development company focused on providing affordable and workforce housing options nationwide. Formerly based in Fond Du Lac, and with a new office in Madison, Wisconsin, this project is Volker’s first new construction project in Dane County, and their 27th in the state of Wisconsin.
“This building will provide community, support, and a place each resident can be proud to call home. I’m hopeful Kelly Station exemplifies Volker Development’s mission to develop high-quality affordable housing to better places and people,” noted Travis Fauchald, Managing Director of Development at Volker. “We look forward to the next project with McShane and are eager to continue delivering attainable housing options in Wisconsin and the rest of the Midwest.”
Units are offered in one- to three-bedroom layouts and feature modern finishes throughout, with kitchens boasting natural wood cabinetry and stainless-steel appliances. Bathrooms are appointed with cultured marble-topped vanities, along with standalone showers or tub/shower combinations. Luxury vinyl-tile flooring runs throughout the main living areas, with carpeting in the bedrooms. Balconies/patios are available in all residences.
The development offers an array of amenities, including a second-floor roof amenity plaza, fifth-floor club room and rooftop deck, fitness center, community room, and local community service organization suite. There is also an on-site Madison BCycle station.
Designed with sustainability in mind, Kelly Station is set to achieve Wisconsin Green Built Homes certification. The development incorporates several sustainable features, including a rooftop solar array that helps offset common-area energy consumption and a blue roof system designed to manage stormwater and reduce runoff.
The project is a participant of WHEDA’s Emerging Business Program, which encourages the involvement, utilization, and development of economically disadvantaged businesses in the State of Wisconsin.
