Fresh Express
McShane Construction Company provided the design/build services for this 86,500-square-foot vegetable processing plant for Fresh Express in Franklin Park, Illinois.
The facility includes over 41,000 square feet of refrigerated cooler space, 22,000 square feet of processing areas, a new quality assurance laboratory and 13,000 square feet of office space.
McShane’s design and construction process required extensive planning that incorporated several sophisticated elements, such as a 3,200 amp electrical service that is fed from two substations, a 35,000 lb. rooftop cooling tower and a 250-ton capacity refrigeration room with a central ammonia system.
