McShane received a Project of Distinction Award from ABC Wisconsin for the design-build construction of a 372,000-square-foot build-to-suit manufacturing and distribution facility for Schuetz Container Systems.
The building is designed for streamlined distribution with 48 truck docks, four drive-in doors, and 245 trailer parking spaces. Additionally, the building is rail served, enabling the owner to efficiently receive raw materials to manufacture their products.
The facility showcases a full mezzanine system that integrates machinery and a network of conveyors to optimize internal logistics. Four interior cranes assist with equipment installation and the movement of heavy materials across the crane bays.
McShane collaborated closely with the client, railroad, and equipment suppliers to meet all operational requirements and ensure the facility was ready for timely occupancy. Leveraging its design-build approach and early material procurement, McShane delivered cost savings and maintained schedule integrity. Despite challenges such as high-power requirements, long lead times, and complex equipment installation processes, the team effectively navigated each obstacle, completing the project on time and with a perfect safety record.
