New Moms Supportive Housing Project Completed

Jeffrey A. Raday, PE, President of McShane Construction Company, is proud to announce the completion of its newest nonprofit supportive housing project. New Moms, with an existing location in Chicago, added a new facility in Oak Park, Illinois. A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was held on Friday, March 15th to celebrate the opening of the brand new facility. Located at 206 Chicago Avenue, in-between Ridgeland and Austin Avenue, the new facility offers comprehensive support services to young moms and their children experiencing poverty and homelessness. New Moms interrupts the cycle of generational poverty and creates strong families by providing stable housing, job training and family support.

The four-story, 21,700-square-foot building includes 18 apartment units comprised of one- and two- bedroom options to accommodate various sized families with private entrances for residents. In addition to the units, the first floor includes new office space for New Moms employees, a playroom which hosts childcare during parent programming, and a community room where parenting education and workshops take place.

“This supportive housing project has been both exciting and unique,” remarked David Rintz, McShane Vice President. “We were fortunate to work with an awesome team to provide young mothers a safe and stable environment to live in.”

McShane Breaks Ground on New Senior Housing Facility

As the baby boomer generation continues to age, the need for additional senior housing also grows. McShane Construction Company was recently contracted by Avenida Partners LLC to create an active living apartment community for seniors in Naperville, Illinois. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 26th 2018 where Bob May, the managing partner of Avenida, spoke along with the mayor of Naperville, Steve Chirico.

Bob and Steve both mentioned the importance of listening to Naperville residents and providing them with a new and diverse housing community for those over the age of 62. Their goal is to provide housing for Naperville residents who want to live in an active senior living community. Mayor Chirico stated, “I am thankful for the investors who believed in this facility and helped bring it to the city of Naperville. I look forward to when the project is finished and the community is full of happy and healthy senior residents.”

The 203,000-square-foot Avenida Naperville project will consist of the construction of two- and three-story buildings. They will include a brick and stone veneer with Hardie lap and panel siding. There will be vinyl windows and patio doors. The kitchens and bathrooms will contain quartz countertops. The amenities will focus heavily on healthy living. A swimming pool, clubhouse area and exterior courtyard will be available for all residents to enjoy.

Jeffrey A. Raday, PE, President of McShane Construction, states, “Partnering with Avenida has been an exciting adventure. We are eager to see the buildings come together and create a dynamic living environment for active senior citizens.”

Scott J. Hoppa, Senior Vice President of McShane Construction Company’s Southeast Region, is pleased to announce the award of the new 271-unit Vue at the Quarter multi-family construction assignment on behalf of TQ-UWS Apartment Homes LLC. The project is located on an 11.32-acre site at 2048 Bolton Drive in Atlanta, Georgia.

Parkview Apartments Completed

McShane Construction Company recently completed Parkview Apartments in downtown Arlington Heights, Illinois for client UP Development. The seven-story building is situated at the southwest corner of Dunton Avenue and Eastman Street in close proximity to the Arlington Heights Metra Station. Downtown Arlington Heights also has a number of nearby restaurants, cafes, stores and parks that its residents can enjoy.

Parkview Apartments feature 45 residential units, ground-floor retail space, integrated parking and various sustainable features meeting NGBS Green Certification.
